Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Channel is hosting an ALF Marathon this Saturday to celebrate the alien puppet’s anticipated return!
Hide your cats and prepare for snarky observations about the human race because ALF is back, baby! Thanks to Fubo, Canadian darling Ryan Reynolds is reviving the classic comedy series for his Maximum Effort channel! The ALF Marathon begins this Saturday, July 29, via the channel’s inaugural series of “Maximum Moments.” ALF creator Paul Fusco and Shout! Studios are along for the wild ride, with sponsored content coming from Mint Mobile, Fubo, Hims, MNTN, and Ring featuring the wise-cracking, feline-terrifying alien himself, ALF!
“At Maximum Effort, we love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining,” said Reynolds, Maximum Effort co-founder. “Besides my irrational love of ALF growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life. Tune in this Caturday!”

The ALF Marathon is doing more than bringing the observant, sometimes cross-dressing alien back into the limelight. The Maximum Effort event also features the Maximum Effort Channel’s original Podcats: The Pawdcast.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Maximum Effort, ALF creator Paul Fusco, and Fubo on this creative endeavor focusing on new ALF content,” said Shout! Studios SVP of Marketing and Product Management Michael Ribas. “As we look for fresh ways to engage and reach a global audience of ALF lovers, Maximum Effort Channel is a perfect partner. We are excited to be part of this community.”
ALF ran from 1986-1990, but the series, particularly the title character, has remained part of the pop-culture landscape over the decades. The ALF TV series revolves around ALF (an acronym for Alien Life Form), an alien from the planet Melmac who crash-lands in the garage of a suburban middle-class family, the Tanners. While living with the Tanners, ALF observes their way of life, tries to make a meal out of every cat that crosses his path, and repairs his ship. It’s revealed early on that ALF’s home planet exploded in a nuclear war, leaving him stranded on Earth. The series starred Max Wright, Anne Schedeen, Andrea Elson, and Benji Gregory. ALF was performed by puppeteer Fusco, who co-created the show with Tom Patchett.
